黑樂茶碗「竜田錦」作者 Katō Sekishun - 石器 - 加藤石春 Katō Sekishun(1870-1943) - 日本 - 1900-2000年

Item Description This is a rare hand-built Kuro-Raku tea bowl (chawan) created by Katō Sekishun 加藤 石春 (Katō Sekishun, 1870–1943), working under the artistic name Hōyūsai. The bowl is finished in the artist's signature "Tatsuta Nishiki" glaze — a dramatic, deeply textured raku surface that shifts between iron-black, russet orange and flashes of iridescent copper and blue, evoking the autumn maple leaves of the Tatsuta River celebrated in classical Japanese poetry. The uneven, hand-shaped rim and softly pooled interior glaze are hallmarks of traditional raku craftsmanship, where each firing produces a one-of-a-kind result. The underside bears the artist's impressed seal. The bowl is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed with the title and the artist's signature and seal, confirming authenticity and provenance. A striking example of early 20th-century Kyoto raku ware, ideal for tea ceremony use or display. Size Height: 8 cm Width: 13 cm Depth: 13 cm Weight 334 g / 0.334 kg Condition The bowl shows light surface wear and minor scuffs consistent with age and prior use, as typical of hand-fired raku ware. It remains structurally sound with no cracks or repairs noted. Artist Profile Katō Sekishun (加藤石春, also known as Hōyūsai, 1870–1943) was a Japanese ceramicist active during the Meiji and early Shōwa periods. He is best known for developing his own distinctive glaze formula called "Tatsuta Nishiki," prized for its rich, iridescent coloration reminiscent of autumn foliage. His raku-style tea wares are sought after by collectors of Japanese tea ceremony objects and are valued for their individuality and painterly glaze effects. NOTICE: The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation. It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally. Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Sometimes Customes or delivery company in your country contact you for Customs clearance via phone or email. Please make sure that you could answer the phone. If you don't, the parcel will return to me and it cost more double shipping fee for reshipping. I appreciate your cooperation.
