The Grosso (also called Matapan) of the Venetian Doge Lorenzo Tiepolo (reign 1268–1275) is a significant medieval silver coin from the Republic of Venice. It features a characteristically Byzantine-influenced design:
Obverse (Avers): Saint Mark stands on the right, handing a banner on a long shaft to Doge Lorenzo Tiepolo, who stands on the left.
Reverse (Revers): Jesus Christus sits frontally on an ornately decorated throne, holding the Gospels in his hands.
