Antique Turkoman Jewish Dreidel (Sevivon) antique Turkoman Jewish dreidel (sevivon) of distinctive spherical form, handcrafted in metal and decorated with inset turquoise cabochons. The body is composed of repoussé upper and lower hemispheres joined by an ornate central band embellished with finely executed punched decoration.The four traditional Hebrew letters נ, ג, ה, פ (Nun, Gimel, He, Pe), representing the phrase "Nes Gadol Haya Po" ("A great miracle happened here"), are engraved around the body. The domed sections retain traces of gilt finish, while the balanced construction and geometric ornamentation reflect the traditional metalworking traditions of the Turkoman tribes of Central Asia. The threaded spindle remains intact, and the piece represents an uncommon ethnographic interpretation of the traditional Jewish Hanukkah spinning top.
