The opposite end narrows slightly into a flat, rectangular tang intended for insertion into a handle of wood, bone, horn or another organic material, now lost. The cutting edges are still sharp with some losses and signs of wear consistent with age and use. The central rib increased rigidity without requiring an excessively thick or heavy blade.
