Selling one on only 15 survived lately with my collection.
This particular item is a genuine late 19th‑century Third Degree Grave Sheet, most likely produced around 1890. During that period, such ceremonial shrouds were typically hand‑stitched or specially commissioned from dedicated fraternal suppliers. They often featured understated embroidery on a backing of sturdy cotton or linen, designed to withstand repeated ritual use.
Authentic examples from this era have become uncommon. Many were either stored for decades in the secure chests of Masonic lodges or gradually worn down through regular participation in the solemn rites of the Master Mason degree. The survival of a piece in such condition today offers both historical and fraternal significance, providing a tangible link to late Victorian‑era Masonic practice.
