Item Description A striking mallet-form bottle vase in cast bronze, finished in a rich, hand-brushed emerald-green patina with warm golden striations running across the surface. The vase rises from a rounded, globular body into a tall, elegant cylindrical neck that flares gently at the mouth — a silhouette rooted in classical Chinese and Japanese vase forms. The underside bears an impressed square seal mark. The piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed in ink with "Cast Bronze, Asuka" along with the artist's signature and seal. Notably, the box also carries an inscription indicating it was presented as a commemorative award: "昭和六十二年度 長野県学校保健功労者表彰" — a meritorious service commendation for school health work in Nagano Prefecture, dated Showa 62 (1987). This dual identity, as both a decorative art object and a piece of mid-Showa institutional commemoration, gives the vase added character and provenance. With its saturated jade-green surface and sculptural silhouette, it makes a striking accent piece for a shelf, console, or display cabinet. Size Height: 21.5 cm Width: 12 cm Depth: 12 cm Weight 758 g / 0.758 kg Condition The vase is in overall good vintage condition with an intact glaze/patina throughout; a small hairline separation is visible along the edge of the footring, and there is minor natural colour variation at the rim consistent with age and casting.
