Antique, intricately carved, small Meerschaum pipe. The exquisite carving on this pipe makes it stand out. A highly detailed running horse is the focal point amid a body of stylized carved stone. There is blackening in the bowl, suggestive of use. For its age, the pipe is in good condition, with no evidence of loss to the carving; some roughness is noted on the plastic mouthpiece. The original case is solid, with soiling of the inner lining and crazing to the leather surface, appropriate for age and use. The pipe is approximately 4 1/2 inches long. The plastic stem is 1 1/4 inches long and curves downward. The carved body is approx. 3 3/4 inches long and approx. 2 inches tall from the base to the lip of the bowl.
