Elegant Norwegian silver candlestick designed and manufactured by Aksel Holmsen, Sandefjord, one of Norway's most respected twentieth-century silversmiths.

Crafted in 830S silver, the candlestick displays the clean, sculptural lines characteristic of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design. The broad domed base and understated baluster stem create a balanced and timeless silhouette, reflecting the functional elegance for which Norwegian silver became internationally renowned.

The piece is struck with the 830S silver standard together with the maker's hallmark of Aksel Holmsen. Founded in 1904, the workshop became especially known for its refined modern silverware and enamel work. In 1950 the company was continued by Aksel's son, Ivar Holmsen, and remained active until 1971.

As is customary for Scandinavian candlesticks of this period, the base is weighted ( not with silver ) to provide stability.

Condition
