1/4 Dirham (Silver, 15 mm, 0.62 g).
Obv: Central pellet surrounded by two concentric inscriptions: لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله / وعلي أفضل الوصيين ووزير خير المرسلين. “There is no deity but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah / And ʿAli is the most excellent of the designated successors and the vizier of the best of messengers.”
Rev: Central pellet surrounded by two concentric inscriptions: المعز لدين الله أمير المؤمنين / دعا الإمام معد لتوحيد الإله الصمد. “al-Muʿizz li-Din Allah, Commander of the Believers / Imam Maʿadd summons all to affirm the unity of God, the Eternal.”

Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah, the fourth Fatimid caliph and 14th Ismaili imam, ruled from 953 to 975 AD. He conquered Egypt in 969 and established Cairo as the Fatimid capital, shifting power from Ifriqiya. Under his general Jawhar al-Siqilli, Fatimid influence expanded across North Africa and Sicily. Known for religious tolerance, Al-Mu'izz also fostered cultural and administrative advances.
