Taro Kamoda (加守田太郎) (b.1963) - 茶碗 - 石器 - Guinomi,手工打造

A striking guinomi (sake cup) by Taro Kamoda, second-generation potter of the celebrated Kamoda kiln in Mashiko. Hand-built without the use of a wheel, the cup has an irregular, faceted rim that gives it a distinctly sculptural presence. Dashed lines of glaze, brushed on by hand in Kamoda's signature technique, run vertically across the dark, textured clay body, while the interior reveals a warm, cream-toned glaze flecked with iron. The result is a small but powerfully expressive piece that carries forward the free, unconventional spirit of the Kamoda name. 【Artist Profile】 Taro Kamoda (b. 1963) is a potter based in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, and the son of Shoji Kamoda (1933-1983), one of the most influential and iconoclastic figures in postwar Japanese ceramics. Taro began working seriously in pottery in 1983, following his father's death, eventually taking over as the second generation of the Kamoda kiln. Working primarily by hand-building rather than on the wheel, and using glazes of his own devising applied with a brush, he has developed a personal style that echoes his father's spirit of formal freedom while remaining distinctly his own. He held his first solo exhibition at Aoyama Green Gallery in Tokyo in 1986, and has since shown his work at venues including Keio Department Store and the contemporary ceramics gallery Kanjitsuri at the Hotel New Otani. 【Condition】 Excellent.
