DOM PÉRIGNON
Few names in Champagne possess the international recognition and collector status of Dom Pérignon.
Dom Pérignon is the prestige vintage Champagne associated with Moët & Chandon and is produced according to one fundamental principle.
Dom Pérignon is always a vintage Champagne.
There is no non-vintage Dom Pérignon.
Each release represents the interpretation of one particular harvest year.
A vintage is created only when the quality and individual character of the harvest allow the Cellar Master to produce a Champagne considered worthy of the Dom Pérignon name.
This makes every vintage a distinct chapter in the history of the wine rather than an attempt to reproduce precisely the same Champagne year after year.
That philosophy has helped establish Dom Pérignon among the most recognised, collected and internationally traded prestige Champagnes.
THE ORIGINS OF DOM PÉRIGNON
The name honours Dom Pierre Pérignon, the Benedictine monk who became cellarer and procurator of the Abbey of Hautvillers in Champagne in 1668.
During decades of work at Hautvillers, he devoted considerable attention to viticulture, grape selection, pressing and the blending of wines from different vineyards.
The popular legend that Dom Pierre Pérignon single-handedly invented sparkling Champagne is historically inaccurate.
His genuine contribution is more significant.
He became one of the important early figures in the pursuit of higher quality winemaking in Champagne and developed an approach based upon selection, blending, precision and the search for harmony.
Those principles remain remarkably compatible with the philosophy associated with Dom Pérignon today.
THE BIRTH OF A CHAMPAGNE ICON
The modern Dom Pérignon story began centuries later.
The first Dom Pérignon vintage was 1921.
It was commercially released in 1936 and became one of the wines that helped define the modern concept of a prestige cuvée.
Dom Pérignon represented a Champagne positioned at the highest level of the House and intended to express exceptional quality, vintage character and extended ageing.
Over subsequent decades the distinctive shield label became recognised internationally.
Today mature and highly rated Dom Pérignon vintages are sought by Champagne collectors, fine wine enthusiasts, restaurants and buyers throughout the international secondary wine market.
THE 2015 CHAMPAGNE VINTAGE
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 was born from a year of exceptional climatic contrasts.
The defining characteristics were heat, sunshine and drought.
A prolonged period of water stress extended from spring into summer and affected vineyards differently according to soil, exposure and local rainfall.
Some parcels suffered considerably under the extreme conditions.
Others maintained sufficient water reserves and produced grapes with much better balance.
The result was not a vintage in which uniformity could be taken for granted.
Selection became fundamental.
Vincent Chaperon has described 2015 as a mosaic because individual villages and vineyard parcels responded differently to the heat and lack of water.
This made the extensive vineyard resources available to Dom Pérignon particularly important.
The ability to select grapes from a wide range of sites allowed the team to reject less successful material and assemble a wine capable of expressing both the generosity and the tension of the year.
Pinot Noir performed particularly well.
The final Champagne nevertheless maintained an almost equal balance between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The result is one of the more individual modern Dom Pérignon vintages.
It is generous without being heavy.
Ripe without losing definition.
Textural while maintaining freshness.
It is a Champagne shaped by an unusually warm year but also by rigorous selection.
DOM PÉRIGNON 2015 BLEND
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 is produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The assemblage is approximately
51 percent Pinot Noir
49 percent Chardonnay
Pinot Noir contributes structure, depth, maturity of fruit and breadth.
Chardonnay provides precision, freshness, citrus character, aromatic lift and mineral definition.
The almost equal proportion of the two varieties creates the characteristic Dom Pérignon interplay between intensity and finesse.
The wine underwent approximately eight years of maturation before release.
Reported dosage is approximately 4.5 to 5 grams per litre.
Alcohol is 12.5 percent by volume.
Bottle size is 750 ml.
VINCENT CHAPERON AND THE MODERN DOM PÉRIGNON ERA
The 2015 vintage also occupies an important position in the modern history of Dom Pérignon.
Richard Geoffroy became Chef de Cave in 1990 and guided Dom Pérignon for almost three decades.
During his tenure the House further developed its philosophy of vintage expression, extended maturation and the concept of Plénitude.
Vincent Chaperon joined Dom Pérignon in 2005 and worked closely alongside Geoffroy for more than a decade.
On 1 January 2019, Vincent Chaperon succeeded Richard Geoffroy as Chef de Cave.
Dom Pérignon 2015 therefore originates from the long creative continuity between these two important figures while its eventual release belongs firmly to the Vincent Chaperon era.
The vintage also became an important example of how Dom Pérignon approaches increasingly warm climatic conditions in Champagne.
For 2015, selection was crucial.
The resulting wine combines seemingly contrasting ideas of intensity and calm, generosity and structure.
That tension is central to the identity of this vintage.
STYLE AND TASTING CHARACTER
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 is a particularly expressive and generous interpretation of the House style.
The aromatic profile can reveal citrus peel, ripe orchard fruit, peach, nectarine, Mirabelle plum, orange and floral notes.
These are complemented by more complex tones of brioche, fresh pastry, toasted almond, smoke, white pepper, spice and chalky minerality.
Further nuances can include roasted cocoa, jasmine, lime blossom, aniseed and cardamom.
The palate combines ripe fruit with finely detailed mousse and fresh acidity.
Its texture is broader and more immediately generous than some cooler Dom Pérignon vintages, yet the wine retains a distinctly mineral and saline backbone.
A subtle phenolic bitterness contributes additional structure and prevents the richness of the fruit from becoming excessive.
The result is a Champagne capable of showing considerable pleasure relatively young while still possessing the structure required for further development.

Decanter awarded 94 points, emphasising the generous personality of the vintage with apricot pastry, orange citrus, almond, toasted bread and savoury complexity.
Taken together, the reviews describe a Champagne that combines ripe vintage character with freshness, mineral structure and genuine potential for further development.
DRINK NOW OR CONTINUE CELLARING
Dom Pérignon 2015 is particularly attractive because it already offers considerable accessibility while retaining meaningful ageing potential.
This is not a Champagne that must remain untouched for another decade to become enjoyable.
Its ripe fruit and generous texture make it attractive now.
At the same time, professional critics expect the wine to continue developing over many years.
With further bottle age, the youthful citrus, peach and orchard fruit character should gradually integrate with more mature tones of toast, brioche, nuts, honey, spice, smoke and other tertiary Champagne aromas.
For a collector with appropriate storage conditions, Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 therefore offers a genuine choice between present enjoyment and longer-term maturation.
ORIGINAL DOM PÉRIGNON BLACK GIFT BOX
A particularly attractive feature of this lot is the inclusion of the original black Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 presentation box.
The box carries the classic gold Dom Pérignon branding and the distinctive shield design identifying Vintage 2015.
The original rear product label confirms Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015, Champagne Brut, 750 ml and 12.5 percent alcohol.
The matching original presentation box substantially improves the visual and collector appeal of the lot compared with a loose bottle.
It makes the Champagne particularly attractive for a collector, as a prestige gift, for an anniversary or celebration, or for continued professional cellar storage.
The box shows only normal minor indications of handling and storage consistent with its function.
Please examine all photographs carefully.
The photographs show the actual bottle and original box offered and form an integral part of the auction description.

OHMS DIRECT CELLAR PROVENANCE
For collectible Champagne, provenance and storage history are extremely important.
The name printed on a famous label cannot by itself tell the buyer how the bottle has been stored during its life.
Heat, repeated temperature fluctuations, inappropriate handling and uncertain secondary-market history can all influence the development of fine Champagne.
This Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 comes directly from the professional OHMS Connoisseurs Choice wine cellar.
It has not been anonymously sourced from an unknown secondary-market seller immediately before auction.
Its history within OHMS is known and it has been handled within our professional wine storage system.
The exact bottle and original gift box offered have been photographed by OHMS.
For a prestige vintage Champagne designed to develop over many years, this direct professional cellar provenance represents an important part of the value of the lot.
PROFESSIONAL CELLAR STORAGE
OHMS places considerable emphasis on stable wine storage conditions and careful handling.
This is particularly relevant for age-worthy Champagne such as Dom Pérignon.
Our objective is not simply to sell a famous bottle.
It is to preserve the bottle properly, document it transparently and deliver it to the buyer with as much protection as reasonably possible.
Wines designated for auction remain carefully handled and are transferred to our dedicated dispatch operation, where they are maintained under appropriate wine storage conditions until preparation for shipment.
PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING AND SHIPPING
All bottles are carefully prepared for transport using a multi-layer protection system developed specifically for mature collector wines and fine Champagne.
Labels and capsules are first covered with protective transparent film.
This provides an additional protective layer during transport and also helps capture any possible trace seepage that can occasionally occur with fine wine during transportation.
The bottle is then wrapped in original OHMS Connoisseurs Choice paper.
It is subsequently protected with bubble wrap.
The protected bottle is placed into a Styrofoam or AirCover protective sleeve.
The complete package is finally placed inside a sturdy cardboard shipping box suitable for wine transportation.
Particular care is taken when an original presentation box forms part of the auction lot so that both the wine and its collector presentation are protected for transport.
This multi-layer protection system is designed to minimise movement and protect the bottle, capsule, label and presentation during normal shipping conditions.
Fine wines and Champagnes can occasionally show minimal traces of seepage following transportation as a consequence of movement or temperature variation.
Such minimal traces do not necessarily indicate any fault in the wine.
Should a minor trace occur, the protective transparent film and OHMS wrapping are intended to capture it and help protect the presentation of the bottle.
Shipping is performed via DPD throughout continental Europe.
Česká pošta or EMS is used for selected international destinations.
We do not ship to the Canary Islands.
OHMS CONNOISSEURS CHOICE
SINCE 1998
OHMS s.r.o. was established in 1998.
Since 2003, OHMS has specialised in carefully selected fine wines and luxury products, with particular experience in mature German Riesling, Mosel wines, Champagne, Super Tuscans and collectible bottles.
Over more than two decades, OHMS has developed around a simple philosophy: provenance, terroir, authenticity, professional storage and respect for products whose quality is inseparable from their place of origin.
That philosophy today extends beyond wine.
OHMS is also connected with Finca Dindoš, our own high-altitude specialty coffee farm in Alto Quiel, Boquete, Panama.
Boquete is internationally recognised as one of the great origins of specialty coffee, particularly for Geisha.
At Finca Dindoš we cultivate high-altitude Geisha coffee using organic and environmentally sensitive farming practices, with a strong emphasis on respect for the surrounding mountain ecosystem and careful handling of the harvest.
The farm also produces cascara, the dried skin and pulp of ripe coffee cherries, offering another expression of the same harvest and the same Alto Quiel terroir.
For OHMS, the relationship between fine wine and specialty coffee is natural.
Both are agricultural products shaped by origin.
Both depend upon climate, altitude, soil, variety, harvest decisions, processing, maturation and storage.
Both reward patience and attention to detail.
And both can express terroir with extraordinary precision.
The development of Finca Dindoš is therefore a continuation of the OHMS Connoisseurs Choice philosophy rather than a departure from it.
From mature Mosel Riesling and prestige Champagne to high-altitude Panama Geisha coffee and cascara, the principle remains the same.
Know the origin.
Respect the terroir.
Preserve the product.
Describe it transparently.
Pack it carefully.
Ship it professionally.
OHMS has also developed a substantial and publicly visible selling history on Catawiki.
Our Catawiki activity represents thousands of successfully sold objects, hundreds of buyer reviews and a positive feedback level above 99 percent.
For collectors purchasing Champagne and fine wine through an online auction, this transparent transaction history provides an additional layer of confidence.
