Design and Form This bronze flower vase was created by Hōun (峰雲) and is a work of Takaoka Bronze Ware (高岡銅器). Its form is defined by a refined contrast in proportion. The upper section rises into a long, slender tsurukubi (crane-neck) profile, widening slightly toward the rim, while the lower section forms a substantial, almost spherical body. The decoration is restrained, allowing the silhouette itself to remain a central feature: the narrow vertical neck and full rounded body create a simple yet distinctive composition. Color and Surface The surface is dominated by deep green, with variations of lighter and darker green forming an intricate marbled pattern throughout the vase. When light falls across the surface, blue tones emerge among the greens, adding a particularly distinctive accent to the otherwise understated palette.
