Obv: ✠ ԼԵԻՈՆ ԹԱԳԱԻՈՐ ՀԱՅՈՑ ("Levon King of the Armenians"). Levon seated facing on throne decorated with lions, placing his feet on footstool, holding globus cruciger in his right hand and fleur-de-lis in his left.
Rev: ✠ ԿԱՐՈՂՈՒԹԲՆ ԱՍՏՈԻԾՈՅ ("By the will of God"). Two lions rampant back-to-back, each with heads reverted; patriarchal cross between them.

The Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia emerged in southern Anatolia during the Crusading era and became one of the most important Christian powers of the eastern Mediterranean. Ruled by Armenian dynasties, it maintained close political, military and commercial ties with the Crusader states and European kingdoms. Its position between Anatolia, Syria and the Mediterranean made it a major center of trade until its conquest by the Mamluks in 1375.
