Tais Feto Ceremonial Tubular Skirt Timor Island, Indonesia This Tais (women’s ceremonial tubular skirt) originates from Timor Island, Indonesia. It remains sewn in its original tubular form, as traditionally worn by women during ceremonial and ritual occasions. Such skirts formed an important part of a woman’s ceremonial attire and were worn during weddings, clan ceremonies, festivals, and other significant social events. The textile is handwoven from handspun cotton using traditional supplementary warp-patterning techniques. The rich terracotta-red and deep brown-black colours were produced with natural dyes, reflecting the sophisticated dyeing traditions of Timor.
