博物馆馆藏层级 - 動物化石 - Ikechosaurus - 50 cm - 30 cm

Museum Collection-Level Specimen Latin Name: Ikechosaurus sp. Classification: Choristodera → Neochoristodera Geological Age: Early Cretaceous, approximately 120 million years ago Locality and Stratigraphy: Jehol Biota, China, Jiufotang Formation Specimen Dimensions: Approximately 50 cm × 30 cm Ikechosaurus is a highly distinctive aquatic reptile from the famous Jehol Biota of northeastern China. As a specialized choristodere, it is characterized by an elongated predatory skull, sharp teeth, a streamlined body, and a long tail adapted for swimming in ancient freshwater lake environments. Its overall morphology shows a remarkable ecological resemblance to modern long-snouted crocodilians, making it one of the most visually striking reptilian fossils from the Early Cretaceous. This specimen presents a highly impressive overall composition. The skull is narrow and triangular, with the elongated rostrum clearly displayed. The cervical and dorsal vertebrae are aligned in a natural posture, while the rib cage remains well represented on both sides of the body. The limbs are extended outward, with the forelimbs and hind limbs preserving visible joint structures and delicate terminal elements. The long caudal series extends almost completely toward the lower edge of the slab, emphasizing the animal’s aquatic adaptation and elegant body proportions. The fossil is preserved on a naturally shaped stone matrix, giving the piece a strong visual balance and display quality. The contrast between the darker fossilized bone material and the pale surrounding matrix enhances the anatomical details, making the specimen suitable not only for scientific appreciation but also for high-end fossil display. Overall, this is a visually powerful and well-presented Ikechosaurus specimen, with an excellent combination of skull, vertebral column, limbs, ribs, and tail. It is a highly attractive piece for advanced fossil collectors, private museums, educational displays, or refined interior collections. Due to the size and fragility of the slab, the back of the specimen will be professionally reinforced before shipment to ensure safer transportation. After receiving the fossil, the buyer may further trim or adjust the backing plate according to their own display requirements.
