Nothing here is painted, printed or inked. The image is built entirely from depth, from what has been taken away rather than added, so that every ridge and every turn of light exists because of an absence held in the surface. Seen straight on, in even light, the work can seem to hold its breath, a pale field with barely a whisper of form. As an artist, I am driven by a constant desire to explore new visual languages.
