瓦努阿图民族志。二十世纪初的研究,费利克斯·斯派瑟。 (沒有保留價)

Felix Speiser, Ethnology of Vanuatu. An early twentieth century study, Felix Speiser Originally published in German in 1923, this work records much of Vanuatu's early material culture. It was the result of two years of field work by Swiss anthropologist Felix Speiser between 1920 and 1912. This remarkable work was first printed in German in 1923 as ''Ethnographische Materialien Aus Den Neuen Hebriden Und Den Banks-Inseln" (the islands of Vanuatu were formerly known as "New Hebrides"). It was only translated and published in English in 1996. It is largely concerned with the secret societies in the New Hebrides Islands of Southeast Asia. Speiser documents the lavish initiation rituals, the megalithic constructions that were part of the secret society ritual locations, the power of the ritual organizations and their leaders, the special burials of secret society leaders, the plastering of their skulls, and many other fascinating aspects of these secret societies. It is just one outstanding example among other ethnographies that document the special nature of secret societies. This in-depth compilation is abundantly illustrated with over 109 plates providing over 1,600 illustrations, making it one of the major documents published on the arts of the Vanuatu. Featuring hundreds of B/W field photos, native peoples, tribal motifs, architectural elements, dishes, weapons, ornaments, clothes, belts, spears, arrows, bows, clubs, canoes, bowls, bowls, masks etc. A must for anyone with an interest in the Ethnology of Vanuatu. Hardcover, fine-looking, structurally sound hardcover, little discernible wear, bright interior, unmarked. Bound in bright orange cloth over boards, sharp and distinct gilt lettering to spine.
