Such plaques were traditionally mounted on houses, gates, garages or vehicles associated with war veterans, serving as a visible sign of respect and social recognition within the Soviet commemorative culture.

Authentic Soviet commemorative enamel plaque dedicated to disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945).
Such plaques were traditionally mounted on houses, gates, garages or vehicles associated with war veterans, serving as a visible sign of respect and social recognition within the Soviet commemorative culture.

The inscription reads:
“ИНВАЛИД ВОВ 1941–1945 гг.”
(“Disabled Veteran of the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945”).

The design features the iconic red five-pointed Soviet star together with a decorative floral composition symbolizing remembrance and honor. The bold green stencil-style typography and minimalist composition strongly reflect the visual language of late Soviet public and memorial signage.

Manufactured from stamped steel with baked enamel coating, the plaque displays the characteristic construction and materials widely used for outdoor Soviet signs during the 1970s–1980s, especially during the period of major Victory Day commemorations.

Objects of this type could once be seen throughout Soviet cities and villages and today remain authentic artifacts of USSR remembrance culture, veteran symbolism and Cold War-era public design.
