Two English partridge-wood walking sticks, each with a crook handle and sterling silver mount. The earlier example, London 1906, measures 89 cm and is fitted with an ornate silver terminal richly decorated with scrolling foliate motifs surrounding a plain cartouche. The partridge-wood shaft has distinctive longitudinal incisions, traditionally intended for the attachment of a ribbon or sash. The second example, London 1927, measures 86 cm and has an engraved sterling silver terminal with scrolling foliate decoration. Both silver mounts bear full London hallmarks. The partridge-wood shafts display attractive natural figuring and characteristic segmented growth. Both sticks show age-related wear and marks consistent with use, including surface wear to the shafts and patination to the ferrules. The longitudinal incisions on the 1906 example are intentional and not damage.
