Art Glass Fazzoletto Vase – In the Manner of Seguso Vetri d’Arte – Amber and White Lattimo – Italy, circa 1960–1970

An impressive hand-blown art-glass vase, made in Italy during the mid-20th century, approximately 1960–1970.

The tall, gently flared body is crafted from substantial clear crystal glass with a warm graduated amber-gold colour. Regular vertical optic ribs extend through the vase and contain numerous elongated white lattimo inclusions, creating a refined dotted pattern that changes beautifully according to the light and viewing angle.

The vase culminates in a dramatic, deeply undulating fazzoletto—or handkerchief—rim. Its substantial clear-glass edge accentuates the sculptural character of the piece and demonstrates the considerable skill required to shape the glass while hot.

The underside displays a broad ground and polished pontil area, confirming its individually hand-finished construction. Small bubbles, slight asymmetry and subtle variations within the glass are characteristic of traditional artisanal production and make every hand-blown example unique.

The design shows stylistic and technical affinities with mid-century production by Seguso Vetri d’Arte. The vase is unsigned.
