Religious icon entitled Emmaus, depicting the Risen Christ seated at a table between two disciples.
Rome, Jubilee Year 2000.
Tempera on panel, with richly coloured garments, ornamented golden haloes and a painted and gilt wooden frame.
Dimensions: 23.5 × 28 cm.
Artist: Stefanos Armakolas, as identified on the backside.
Condition: Signs of age and handling, with surface wear, abrasions, areas of paint loss, scattered marks, small imperfections and craquelure. The condition of the tempera, wooden support and any possible restorations or retouching has not been independently assessed.
On the backside a sticker bearing the heading of the Istituto Internazionale di Ricerca sul Volto di Cristo, identifying the title, artist, technique and date, and describing the work as a unico esemplare (unique example).
Further provenance remains to be established.
The composition features Christ holding bread, with a chalice and loaves on the table, against a blue background with gold inscriptions and decorative details.
