This is an authentic U.S.-made military-specification A-2, not a modern reproduction or a civilian fashion interpretation. The interior label identifies the jacket as “TYPE A-2 FLIGHT JACKET – A.C. ORDER NO. 32-1466-AF – ARMY AIR FORCE”, with Quartermaster Uniform Co. named as the manufacturer. Quartermaster Uniform Co. was a Long Beach, California military uniform and equipment company. The company is documented in contemporary U.S. military-veteran publications from the 1980s, with its Long Beach address listed as a supplier of military memorabilia and equipment. The jacket is made from genuine goatskin leather, with a particularly beautiful natural grain and surface texture. The leather has a rich, deep brown tone with subtle variations in colour and sheen, giving the jacket a very authentic military character. The goatskin is supple but substantial, with clearly visible natural grain throughout the body and sleeves.
