Carved by artist from a one piece of Solid Poplar Wood**. Tanned with fire (yakisugi***), painted with dark wood stain and waxed with natural wax.
STYLE
* (Wabi-sabi (侘寂) - traditional Japanese aesthetics - a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. It is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect and incomplete" in nature.)

METHOD
***(Yakisugi (焼杉) is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. By slightly charring the surface of the wood without combusting the whole piece, the wood becomes water-proof through the carbonisation and is thus more durable. It also protects against insects, as well as making the wood fire retardant.)
