Yukio Kubota was active in the late Showa era. He specialised in elegant, restrained kachō-e (花鳥絵). This *Haruka* crane series is his most recognised body of work. It depicts three red-crowned cranes soaring over layered, abstract mountain silhouettes. It is rendered in muted grey tones with smooth, flat colour fields. The soft abstract mountain forms and minimalist, ethereal composition reflect modern Japanese expressive aesthetics. At the lower margin: handwritten title “はるか”, pencil signature Yukio Kubota and handwritten edition number 145/150. An embossed seal reading “PRINTER YK YUKIO KUBOTA” is present on the paper edge; printed by the artist himself. Shows traces of prior mounting. Due to age, the washi has slight natural toning. The printed image is complete and unrestored. Condition is good for its age. The artwork is unframed. Framing in photos is for display only.
