The unit has been serviced: capacitors have been replaced (Panasonic/Nichicon), switches have been thoroughly cleaned, and the interior has been cleaned. All issues have been resolved, and the amplifier has been calibrated according to the manufacturer's specifications. All lamps, switches, and potentiometers are in full working order. It features two switchable phono inputs (MM/MC) for vinyl enthusiasts. Sonically flawless—no noise, no crackling—delivering a phenomenal, powerful sound across both channels. The amplifier is very robust—a real tank. In quite good condition visually; a few scratches—please see the photos. The Technics SU-8088K (where the "K" denotes its characteristic dark brown/black chassis color) is an outstanding high-end integrated amplifier from the late 1970s (produced between 1978 and 1980). It hails from a legendary era when Technics built robust, uncompromising DC-coupled (direct-coupled) amplifiers—just before the introduction of their "New Class A" technology. Within the hi-fi community, this model enjoys an excellent reputation, thanks to its superior technical specifications, immense power reserves, and extremely neutral sound. Sound Quality and Performance Absolute Neutrality: In terms of sound, the SU-8088K acts like a "straight wire with gain." It adds no artificial coloration to the music, reproducing the signal with exceptional precision and transparency. Enormous Power Reserves: While officially rated at 2 x 80 watts into 8 ohms, the amplifier delivers significantly more in laboratory testing. Independent measurements show that, with both channels driven simultaneously, it can produce just over 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms—and up to 150 watts per channel into 4 ohms. It can drive even demanding loudspeakers with ease. Excellent Phono Stage: For vinyl enthusiasts, this unit is a dream. It features an outstanding built-in phono stage compatible with both MM (moving magnet) and MC (moving coil) cartridges, and includes a switchable subsonic filter.
