Finished in deep black lacquer, it features clematis (tessen) branch motifs painted in gold, with soft pink colouring applied to the petals and buds. The centres of the flowers are inlaid with raden (mother-of-pearl shell) decoration, adding a subtle luminescence. Each drawer is fitted with a brass pull in a leaf-and-ring motif. On the front of the lower right drawer, a small red seal can be found — a style commonly used in Japanese lacquerware to indicate the name of the maker or workshop. Cabinets of this type have traditionally been used to store small personal items and accessories, and their compact size makes them well suited as decorative pieces in a modern setting.
