Pyrite in the Villabona mine is rather common, but it rarely ever manifests as large crystals. Now these came from one of the few pockets that break this rule, which produced a few very large pyrite crystals all with a distinctive set of strange twisted habits. This is one of the large examples, featuring a tightly intergrown mass of twisted scaly pyrite cubes with great luster and iridescent highlights, set over a quartzitic matrix with minor fluorite.
