稀有 阿瑜陀耶王朝时期 铜佛像 46 cm - 带底座/镀金 - 18世纪-19世纪 - 泰國
An impressive and unusual cast bronze Buddha figure, measuring 46 cm in height:
Tightly mounted on a wooden cube as the original legs are missing, is giving it a museum appearance. The neck seems to have had a repair.
This is an original and interesting stylistic character, combining Ayutthaya features associated with tradition and a Sukhothai-derived facial influence.
The Buddha has a calm and serene face, with lowered almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, a pronounced nose and a subtle, smiling expression. The casting of the robes is structured and architectural, which fall in broad, flared forms with pronounced linear folds.
Particularly remarkable is the evidence of its original decorative finish. Areas of loss reveal a distinct sequence of layers consisting of a thin dark/black layer, a red preparation layer and finally gold leaf. This layered gilding technique, together with the extensive natural wear and dark oxidation, gives the sculpture a powerful and authentic aged appearance.
The figure nevertheless retains an exceptionally strong presence and expressive sculptural quality.
