The Montblanc Carrera No. 522 is a distinctive fountain pen from the 1970s, created as part of Montblanc’s sportier Carrera series. Its design is immediately recognizable by the contrasting resin barrel, matte black metal cap and characteristic perforated “rally” clip, a detail inspired by the motorsport aesthetic that gave the Carrera line its name. The 522 is fitted with a stainless-steel nib and combines lightweight construction with a bold, unmistakably 1970s appearance. With its strong colour contrasts, unusual clip design and close association with Montblanc’s Carrera era, the No. 522 has become one of the most recognizable and collectible non-Meisterstück designs from the company’s post-war production.
