賣家描述
nephrite pendant - jade / cabochon / new
Set in 925. sterling silver
Includes leather cord
Weight: 6.52 g (weighed without leather cord)
24.2 mm x 20.2 mm x 7.2 mm
New and unworn
As nephrite is a mixed crystal from the seamless series of Tremolite and Actinolite minerals. It is not recognized by the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) as a distinct mineral.
When nephrite occurs as a mass of interwoven microcrystalline fibers it is called jade. This material, also called nephrite jade, is processed into corresponding desirable jewelry stones and handicrafts, but chemistrically differs significantly from jade, which mainly consists of jadeite. The colors of nephrite are caused by chromium and iron and range from gray-green to dark green and almost black; the color can also turn into reddish brown.
The term nephrite comes from the Greek νεφρός nephros and translates to kidney. An old folk belief attributes healing and strengthening effects to the stone, especially on kidneys, urinary tract, and bladder. Esotericists also believe in its effectiveness as a healing stone for vision, creativity, among others, as well as a protective stone, though this has not been scientifically proven.
Stone axes made of nephrite were coveted in Neolithic Europe and, due to rare occurrences, valuable tools.
