SAMIA KERKENI — TIDAL GOLD, 2024 Original Acrylic Pouring on Canvas — 25 × 25 × 1 cm Unique Artwork — 1/1 In Tidal Gold, Samia Kerkeni brings the movement of water and the warmth of light into an intimate square composition. Cool white and cream currents meet deep navy and teal cellular forms, while ochre and gold-coloured passages introduce a luminous contrast. The painting suggests a coastline seen between tide and light: an abstract world in which fluid colour gathers, separates and reconnects. THE ARTWORK Pale currents move through the composition, opening spaces between darker formations. Navy and teal passages reveal intricate cellular patterns, encouraging the eye to travel from the broader flow of colour towards smaller details. Warm ochre and gold-coloured accents punctuate the cooler palette. Their presence gives the painting a sense of light moving across the surface, while the contrast between dark and pale areas creates depth within its compact format. Created through acrylic pouring, Tidal Gold preserves the fluid movement of paint as part of the finished image. Cells, contours and transitions developed through the interaction of colour, giving the surface its distinctive character. The title offers a poetic association with the sea. The composition may evoke tidal currents, a shoreline or light reflected on water, while remaining open to the viewer’s interpretation. The work is hand-signed “S. Kerkeni” on the front. The reverse carries the artwork information and a handwritten poem. ABOUT THE ARTIST Samia Kerkeni is a contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores matter, colour and movement. A doctor and researcher in her professional field, she brings an investigative approach to painting, examining the ways materials interact and fluid gestures develop into visual structures. Inspired by oceans, natural currents and the transformation of matter, she creates compositions that invite contemplation through colour, detail and atmosphere.
