The damage must be reported to your local post office within 7 days of delivery, and promptly to us and Catawiki support. 【Product details】 An impressive full-size Japanese samurai armour (yoroi) set from the Showa era, handcrafted using traditional Japanese armour-making techniques. The armour combines black lacquered surfaces with colourful dan-odoshi graduated lacing in brown, white, purple and orange. The black cuirass (do) is particularly striking, with a large raised circular dragon-and-cloud relief at the centre. The substantial multi-plate ribbed helmet (suji kabuto) features decorative shinodare strips, a pierced kuwagata-dai crest base, large brass kuwagata horns and a blade-shaped central maedate front crest, apparently inspired by the ritual sword associated with Fudo Myoo. The large fukigaeshi turned-back side guards are decorated with patterned leather, while the shikoro layered neck guard continues the colourful dan-odoshi lacing. The fierce ressei menpo face mask has applied moustache and beard hair, gold-coloured teeth and an attached throat guard. The set also includes large sode shoulder guards, kote armoured sleeves with chain mail and metal splints over brocade fabric, haidate thigh guards, suneate shin guards, kusazuri skirt protection, waist cord, a wooden assembly stand and the original armour storage chest marked 前, meaning “front”. The armour is in fair to good vintage condition with scratches, rubbing, minor lacquer and finish loss, discolouration, small areas of oxidation and age-related wear to the cords and textiles. Some lacing on the reverse of the do is loose or detached. The menpo has some beard-hair loss, scratches and small lacquer losses. The leather beneath the helmet visor shows deterioration and lifting, and the maedate fitting is slightly loose. One sode fitting has some movement. The haidate and suneate show textile wear, staining and deterioration to some cords. The armour chest has tape residue, rubbing, dirt and a chipped corner.
