Total height reaches 65 cm.
As you lift the dress, you can appreciate the original nineteenth-century craftsmanship. The calves and feet are carved in wood and painted, while the upper part of the legs is made with traditional bandaging and stuffing in period stoppa (hemp/jute) around the central supporting spine.
Face and limbs, head and extremities display expressive and delicate features, with a splendid original polychromy from the era well preserved.
The saint wears the typical Franciscan habit in brown fabric with a white cord. On the arm hangs his rosary of the period, complete with an authentic devotional medal in brass/bronze depicting the Miraculous Medal (the Virgin on the front and the traditional "M" with cross and twelve stars on the back).
The sculpture rests on its original octagonal wooden base, finely carved and gilded with leaf gold, showing a beautiful patina of time.
The work presents itself in excellent general condition for its age. The wood and structure are sound and solid. No signs of significant recent restorations or breaks in the fingers of the hands and feet, a very rare detail for such fragile pieces. The fabric is intact and clean.
