The Isle of Arran was once home to over fifty illicit whiskey distilleries. When the only legal distillery closed in 1837, the island was without whiskey for over 150 years. Harold Currie founded the Arran Distillery in 1993 and the tradition of whiskey distilling was eventually brought back to the island. Arran Distillers recently opened a second distillery on the island: Lagg. To avoid confusion, the original Arran distillery was renamed Lochranza after the village in which it is located. Arran 19 Year Old The Nectar 1996 Cask #368 is a special single cask bottling, selected by retailer The Nectar. The whiskey was distilled on May 22, 1996 and aged for over 19 years in Hogshead #368 sherry. It was bottled on May 6, 2016 at 50.8%. The result is a smooth sherry whiskey characterized by notes of dark fruits, peach, apricot, caramel, milk chocolate and subtle spices. Bottle 309 of 317 bottles only. !!!
