Very beautiful map by Petrus Bertius of Greenland is the first map to specifically focus on it. The island is shown as a narrow island with a central mountain range. Across the Fretum Davis is C. Bedford. Iceland is also shown with an erupting volcano.
Original hand coloring (this was only done to a very limited number of these atlases).
Published by Hondius in Amsterdam in 1618 in a French edition of ´Géographie raccourcie par Pierre BERTIUS´.
Very good condition. Original hand coloring (very rare, only a few copies were sold with hand coloring). light brown spot. Otherwise excellent. Never folded. Reverse side text in French
