This impressive specimen belongs to the extinct aquatic turtle Anosteira maomingensis, a rare species from the Late Eocene of China. Fossils from the Youkanwo Formation are scarce and highly valued by collectors due to their scientific importance and preservation quality. The specimen shows very fine details, and a small portion of the carapace is naturally detached and slightly raised, as visible in the photos. As the fossil Fossil is found inside a phosphate nodule, to prevent surface degradation caused by oxygen exposure, the shell has been consolidated and protected with Paraloid. Approx. 15% restoration is present on the right and left shoulder areas.
