These small objects passed daily through the hands of ordinary people, spreading messages of authority with every exchange. Silver pendant enclosing an authentic Roman coin. The sterling silver frame (marked 925) is custom-made to the coin and if preferred can be removed. Coin: large bronze follis of Emperor Maximinus II, as Caesar, struck Cyzicus in 306 AD. Obverse: GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB CAES, laureate head right. Reverse: GENIO AVGG ET CAESARVM N N, Genius standing left, pouring libation from patera and holding cornucopiae, star to right. Mintmark: KΔ. Diameter: ± 30,3 mm Condition: good, solid and very fine condition. Dark olive brown patina with spots of cuprite. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images. Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format). Galerius Valerius Maximinus Daia (or Daza): Roman Emperor from 310-313 AD. In 305 AD his maternal uncle Emperor Galerius adopted Maximinus as a son and heir, raising him to the rank of Caesar and granting him the government of Syria and Egypt. Maximinus was a fervent believer in the old Roman gods and repressed the Christian faith. Maximinus was the last Roman Emperor, and thus the last person to hold the title of Pharaoh. After 3400 years, the title of Pharaoh disappeared from official ruling titles. Genius: In Roman religion, the genius is the individual instance of a general divine nature that is present in every individual person, place or thing.
