墜飾 銀
This Georgian pendant is a wonderful little remnant of its era, in which romantic jewels with a symbolic meaning were very popular. The 'Crowned Heart' was a popular motive in 18th Century jewellery, symbolizing that love rules all.
It is made from silver, with a gold-washed back. Traditionally, this was done because silver brings out the colour and brilliance of diamonds, while a gold back prevents the silver from tarnishing and potentially staining skin or clothing.
The design is centered by a heart - it was quite usual to depict a heart without a cleft in the 18th Century- set with a rose-cut diamond. A crown-shaped element top the heart, and the design is completed by a drop dangling from the bottom. These three elements can move independently from each other, creating movement when you wear it
Size: 34 x 12 mm.
Weight: 2.47 grams.
Hallmarks: Acid tested as 14k gold and silver.
Condition: In antique condition with some wear, consistent with age. The back shows repairs that were made in the past. The jump ring on top was missing, so was re-added.
Please note that the antique box is for display purposes.
