A finely carved wooden mask representing a serene female face with half-closed eyes and delicate features. The surface shows a warm reddish-brown patina, enhanced by natural pigments and signs of age.
The mask is adorned with an elaborate coiffure made of twisted vegetal fibre cords, decorated with cowrie shells, coloured glass beads, and textile bindings, symbolising femininity and status.
Such masks were traditionally worn during initiation and fertility ceremonies, celebrating beauty, wisdom, and the role of women in society.
