古埃及 釉面软玉 拳头护符 (沒有保留價)
A fine Egyptian glazed steatite amulet in the shape of a clenched fist, belonging to the left hand. Linear incisions portray the four fingers curled inwards and a thumb at the end. A cylindrical wrist features a perforation for suspension. A ridge, perhaps representing a bracelet, encircles the junction of the wrist and palm. Some minor wear, pitting and scratches to the surface, consistent with age. Minor chip to the fingers.
The Egyptians wore amulets alongside other pieces of jewellery. They were decorative, but also served a practical purpose, being considered to bestow power and protection upon the wearer. Many of the amulets have been found inside the wrappings of mummies, as they were used to prepare the deceased for the afterlife. Fist amulets were a particular feature of the 1st Intermediate Period, however examples have been found from New Kingdom and Late Period burials. The amulet was meant to bestow the power of dexterity and movement upon the wearer.
