This piece is a fusion of historical elements and modern craftsmanship. The central component of the ring is a Roman archaeological fibula, dating to the 2nd century AD and belonging to the Roman Empire. The fibula, which originally served a practical function as a decorative brooch for garments, stands out for its geometric design of concentric circles, with traces of polychromie in green, red, and dark tones. These characteristics suggest the use of techniques such as enamelling or the application of coloured glass, typical of classical Roman goldsmithing.
The ring was set in 2000 by the contemporary firm "Arqueojoya", a firm specialising in integrating authentic archaeological pieces with high-quality modern jewellery. The ring's structure, crafted in solid gold, presents a solid and restrained form that enhances the fibula without detracting from its prominence. This contemporary setting allows an object of historical origin to be preserved and appreciated in a modern context, merging past and present into a unique work.
The piece reflects not only the technical skill of contemporary goldsmiths, but also the revaluation of archaeological heritage by incorporating authentic elements into modern designs. This practice combines respect for history with the functionality and aesthetics of contemporary design. The result is a jewel that tells two stories: that of Roman goldsmithing, with its rich artisan tradition, and that of contemporary reinterpretation, where classical art finds new life. The ring weight 28 grams. Ring size number 25.
