古代埃及,新帝國 釉面陶瓷 莲花瓣吊坠 (沒有保留價)

A fine Egyptian faience lotus petal amulet. The amulet features the original yellow glaze to the top of the petal, while the lower section is white. The amulet displays a dark blue suspension loop at the top and a red loop at the bottom for attachment. Reverse is flat and unadorned. Some wear as consistent with age such as wear to the surface. Lotus flowers were very popular among the Egyptians and were frequently found in households and gardens. The lotus flower held strong symbolisation, white lotus flowers opened during the day and closed at night representing rebirth and creation while blue lotus flowers opened at night and closed during the day representing the renewal of life. The flower was very precious to Egyptians, they were given as offering to the gods and in religious ceremonies. Through Egyptian art, the lotus is incorporated in many scenes of mythology and legends. Measurements: L 1.8 cm x W 0.6 cm Provenance: Ex. early 20th century U.K collection N.B.
