Daum Nancy, “verre de jade” bowl, France, c. 1919–1925. Signed Daum Nancy with Cross of Lorraine, wheel-engraved. Approx. 11 cm diameter, 6–6.5 cm high. Small hemispheric bowl from Daum’s post-1918 experimental lines. Mottled green and black layers with interposed gold-leaf inclusions (paillons d’or). The verre de jade décor was developed in the early Art Deco years, when Daum moved beyond cameo glass to fused powders and metal foils. Pieces of this series were sold through the 1920s and fit the spirit of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs. The form matches the documented small vide-poche bowls of about 11–12 cm. The Cross of Lorraine mark confirms Nancy manufacture. Collectors prize this décor for its mineral sheen and demanding technique.
