Antique Walking Cane with Silver Collar – Late Victorian / Edwardian – ca. 1900
Elegant antique gentleman’s walking cane featuring a natural wood shaft with beautiful knotted texture and a curved handle formed from a single piece of wood. The handle has a fine warm patina and a visible natural grain, showing light age wear and a small stable crack typical for its age. The cane is fitted with a silver collar, engraved with a decorative monogram and hallmarked R.P.B, likely of English origin. The brass ferrule appears original.
Such canes were highly fashionable among gentlemen in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, serving not only as walking aids but also as stylish accessories and symbols of refinement. The use of natural wood with visible knots and silver fittings reflected the period’s appreciation for craftsmanship and understated elegance. A fine example of a turn-of-the-century English walking stick, combining simplicity, practicality, and aesthetic charm.
Good antique condition – age-related surface wear, small crack to handle, solid overall structure.
