令人惊叹的极其细致的海蝎 - 甲殼化石 - Eurypterus (Baltoeurypterus) tetragonophthalmus Fischer, 1839
While Eurypterids (“Sea Scorpions”) are uncommon fossils worldwide, New York state and Ukraine are one of the few places where conditions for preservation have been ideal.
They were large arthropod predators during the Silurian and Devonian, reaching a maximum length of 2 meters.
Eurypterus (Baltoeurypterus) tetragonophthalmus Fischer, 1839 , is presumed to have crawled along the seafloor, using its grasping pincers to seize trilobites and other prey.
This is a fine, very detailed and very rare example of a beautiful adult specimen 8,5 cm.
Restoration notes: Swimming paddles and Telson are rebuilt.
The matrix has been carefully reinforced in areas that were slightly thinner to ensure optimal strength and durability.
Specimen is 8,5 cm.
Matrix is 10 x 6,5 cm.
In the last few years Fossils are becoming design objects that have a universal appeal across all languages and cultures.
