His distinguished career includes numerous prestigious awards: Nitten Special Prize and Hokuto Prize (1960), Minister of Education Prize at the Japan New Crafts Exhibition (1983), and the Japan Art Academy Prize for his jar "Daichi" (Earth) in 2007. In 2010, he was appointed Member of the Japan Art Academy, and in 2021, he was designated a Person of Cultural Merit by the Japanese government. He was also awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette in 2019. From 1962, Morino taught ceramics at the University of Chicago, which significantly influenced his artistic development.
