This is a Shakudo Fuchi-gashira (Fuchi-gashira) made during the Edo period.
Fuchi-gashira is a general term for the metal fittings attached to a sword handle. Specifically, it refers to the "Fuchi-gashira" (edge metal fittings) attached to both ends of the handle and the "Tsumatama" (handle head) attached to the other end. These fittings not only increase the sword's strength, but also serve a decorative purpose.
This is a rare Fuchi-gashira (Fuchi-gashira) with a copper base and gold inlay carvings of waves and houndstooth patterns.
A truly beautiful piece.
It is in good condition.
Size: Edge 2.4cm x 3.9cm x 1cm thick; Head 1.7cm x 3.5cm x 0.6cm thick; Total weight 28g
