A finely painted bulbous porcelain vase, measuring circa 10cm in diameter and weighing 289g, decorated in cobalt blue to depict the Shuangxi double happiness characters among vines of lathyrus. The décor represents a wish for a good marriage with many children. This design was popularized by its use at the occasion of the wedding of the young Tongzhi emperor in 1872.
