Its robust proportions, simplified facial features, and boldly carved drapery give it the character and charm typical of old Japanese folk sculptures. The figure is carved from a single block of wood and retains traces of its original dark surface, now beautifully worn with age. The statue is mounted on a later-added wooden stand for stable display. The left hand is missing from the wrist onward, and the raised right hand shows heavy wear, suggesting it once held an attribute that is now lost. The sculpture exhibits noticeable age-related wear, including surface abrasions, scratches, chips, drying cracks, areas of surface loss, and small holes on the back. The stand also has minor marks.
