"DROUGHT II", is part of a series exploring the interconnectedness of humans and earth. Through symbolism, it reflects on the deep imprint of humanity on the earth — a body almost created out of earth, now cracked and dry, symbolizing how we shape and scar the land we come from.

The model was submerged in actual mud and had to wait until it dried so that cracks would be created.
The image is an exhibited and awarded artwork.

It is printed as a small, limited edition run of this size on heavy, Museum Quality Hahnemuhle Fine Art PhotoRag 308gsm paper, which unlike photo papers is fade-resistant and has a guarantee of over 100 years!

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

ELENA PARASKEVA was chosen by Saatchi Art as one of the "Artists To Watch". The chairman of IAA, one of the biggest art organizations called her "one of the biggest talents in the photography industry".

Her art has been bought by private museums, is found in private collections around the world and public institutions like Boston Children's Hospital, Australian National University etc. Her work was exhibited even in the European Parliament in Brussels. She is exclusively represented on the commercial site by UK Agency YRH. In Germany she is represented by INTO Gallery.

She was named Photographer Of The Year in 2024, 2023, 2021 and 2018 by four different, distinguished international photography competitions.

She has exhibited her work in Paris, NYC, London, Barcelona, Tokyo, Munich, Budapest, Kuala Lumpur among other cities and has been published on the pages and covers of a multitude of publications including The Guardian UK, The Guardian Australia, The Times, Vogue.it etc

She is now at the point in her career where she is sought after to judge professional competitions around the globe and is invited to speak at photography seminars. She is even a recurrent judge for the FLORIDA MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS.

She is commissioned by ADOBE (the creators of Photoshop) to teach professionals from all over the world on her creative and editing processes.

Amongst her many exhibitions over the years some notable ones were the exhibition of her series on Autism in the European Parliament in Brussels in March of 2023, the exhibition of her series "Vacant Children" at the XIV Florence Biennale in Oct. 2023 at the invitation of the organizers, and the exhibition of her series "A Perfect Life" during Paris Photo Week in Nov. 2023.
